Zoo Tycoon 2 is an economical simulation game related to the activities of the zoo. It was developed by Blue Fang Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is available for Microsoft Windows and Mac operating system and Nintendo DS. Zoo Tycoon 2 Mac version is developed and published by MacSoft. It is the sequel to the Zoo Tycoon that was released in 2001. The game was released in November, 2004. Zoo Tycoon 2 can be played either single player or in multiplayer modes. Its mobile phone version is also available. It uses Gamebryo game engine for rendering better graphics.
Zoo Tycoon 2 as the name suggests means the multi-millionaire zoo owner. Player’s goal is to manage zoo and its expenses and make profit from it. Player can choose from several modes to play. Each mode has its own limitations. Zoo Tycoon 2 free form mode allows players to create the zoo of his own choice with unlimited money options. But player gets depreciated space, animals and objects. Another mode is challenger mode where money supply is limited and it’s quite hard for player to manage the zoo. There is also a campaign mode in Zoo Tycoon 2 where player needs to accomplish all the goals in order to win.
There are 30 animals in-total in Zoo Tycoon 2. There are many expansion packs for the game which adds up new animals and objects to the game. Players can also download additional animals through bonus downloads and extras. There are also few non-controllable animals in Zoo Tycoon 2 such as Rock Dove, Mallard Duck, Blue Macaw, Red Squirrel etc. Special Dino Danger Pack was released for the game in 2006 that can be downloaded from Zoo Tycoon 2 Website only. The pack contains extinct Dinosaurs species. Other expansion packs released for the Zoo Tycoon 2 are Endangered Species, African Adventure, Zookeeper Collection, Marine Mania and Extinct Animals.
